About Me

Originally from Essex and now residing in the beautiful countryside of North Dorset, my interest in photography was first truly awakened during visits to my aunt and uncle in North Yorkshire when I was in my teens. Having always had an affinity and deep love of nature, I was totally captivated by the stunning landscape. My uncle, himself a passionate photographer and gifted artist, very quickly realised he had an enthusiastic pupil on his hands and I spent many happy hours being tutored in the beautiful Yorkshire landscape. Through my beloved uncle I have inherited the gift of “seeing”, and I now attempt to combine both his talents into my work in honour of his memory.
As a Photographic Artist I create images reflecting the beauty and wonder of our natural world. Inspired by nature and the countryside around me, as well as artists such as Claude Monet and J.W.Turner, my images are often abstract and impressionistic, inviting the viewer to look more deeply into the scene and to put their own interpretation to the picture. Through my work I also attempt to encourage people to immerse themselves more deeply in the healing powers of nature and also to bring to people's attention the beauty of many of the smaller aspects of our natural world which so often go unnoticed......sunlight through a leaf, ripples and reflections in a pool or stream, even a tiny snail on a plant or the patterns on the bark of a tree. Much of my work features wild flowers and trees, because as well as their sheer beauty, they are such an important part of our landscape and play a vital role in the survival of nature. I also find inspiration in our ancient and sacred land and my work often features standing stones, stone circles, holy wells, ancient, and often ruined, churches as well as abandoned villages and some of my images can have quite a spooky and ethereal feel to them.
I sell my work as high quality mounted and framed prints and as greeting cards at events around Dorset.
